A word of encouragement
Our volunteers at Infant Crisis Services are truly amazing. The other day, I visited with our little clients in the playroom and witnessed a wonderful interaction between a volunteer and a mother.
One of our loyal volunteers rocked a caregiver’s baby while the mom shopped. The baby was happy and coo’d at every person that walked by. The mother finished her shopping and went to retrieving her baby from the smitten volunteer. The mother spoke so sweetly to her little girl and the baby coo’d with delight.
The volunteer said to the mother,“ you probably hear this all the time, but you are a great mom and I can tell you spend a lot of time with your baby.”
The mom replied, “No I don’t hear that –ever. Thank you for saying that, it means a lot.”
I am humbled to watch the encouragement that took place during their interaction. The volunteers are passionate about our core values: kindness, compassion, respect and love. Every day they make these mothers feel at ease and comfortable. I am proud to work with all these lovely volunteers!
