Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet Lilli Harris. She is just nine years old but has already learned some valuable lessons about helping others.
On Tuesday, Lilli and her family came into Infant Crisis Services to drop off a donation. The young girl from Edmond brought in a sack of money that she had been saving for months. Like so many of us did as children, Lilli held lemonade stands this summer and watched her neighbors' pets while they were on vacation. She made nearly $100. Although Lilli worked very hard for her money, instead of keeping it or spending it on herself, she decided to give it to us.
"You help a lot of babies grow up healthy," she said when asked why she made the donation to Infant Crisis Services.
I was amazed by this young girl's generous spirit, her compassion for those less fortunate and her desire to help others. Lilli truly shows us that you are never too young to make a difference in the world.
